House wife tries to commit self immolation

SAMBA, June 6: A house wife tried to commit suicide by setting herself ablaze at her residence in Gahagwal village near here today. She was admitted in GMC, Jammu for treatment with 40 percent burn injuries.
The Samba Police has registered a case FIR No 54/2013 under Section 309 RPC at Ghagwal Police Station and started investigations.
According to a police spokesman one Sarita Devi wife of Subash Chander of Harsath Ghagwal received 40 percent burn injuries on her body after settling herself ablaze in the early morning today.
A suicidal note has also been recovered by the police from the place where she reportedly tried to commit self immolation. The spokesman said her neighbours saw her in the morning in flames crying and yelling, having her apparels on fire. They rushed to her rescue poured water on her besides removing her clothes which were in flames and then shifted her to hospital.
The Police has recorded the statement of Sarpanch and locals who said that no other person was near or around her at the time of incident.
The spokesman said that the lady has tried to commit suicide due to severe depression caused to her by her daughter getting married to somebody without her consent.
