Houses collapse due to Heavy rains in hilly belt of Kathua

KATHUA, Aug 24: Due to heavy rainfall during the past few days in Tehsil Billawer,  Basholi, Bani and Mahanpur , numbers of the houses were partially or fully damaged in hilly areas due to land sliding.
As per reports over one dozen of Kachha houses were damaged and numbers of houses received severe cracks during heavy rains and land sliding.  During the intervening night two more houses received cracks due to land sliding at village Niali in tehsil Mahanpur. The damaged houses belonged to Abi Din  ,Sainf Ali  and Shashaad Akhtar at Niali (Ward No 1 Panchayat Dhamlar tehsil Mahanpur).The local leader Joginder Singh appealed the  administration to conduct  survey of damaged  houses and help the affected  families with tent and free ration. He also demanded ex-gratia relief for effected families.
The heavy rainfall and land sliding damaged Bani, Basholi,  Billawer and Katli road on various points.  The Basholi road also received some cracks and posed threat to people driving the vehicles on the road. A connecting portion of Basholi-Gagroad bridge was also washed away in floods. Whereas the Katli and Machhedi road is full of mud and a vehicles could not pass through the road.  The local people are facing hardships in such a way and demanded immediate repairs of damage road and bridge.
