Housewife dies of poisoning, parents allege murder

UDHAMPUR, Feb 24: A young housewife died because of poisoning under mysterious circumstances at the house of her in- laws in village Sundrani, Tikri, here today while parents of the deceased alleged that she was murdered.
A police spokesman said that Sarishta Devi (32), wife of Vijay Kumar Sharma, resident of Sundrani, Tikri, was brought to Primary Health Centre (PHC) Tikri by her in-laws, who claimed that she had consumed some poisonous substance. Despite efforts by the doctors, she did not respond to the treatment and died.
The police after completion of all the legal formalities and postmortem, handed over the body to family members for last rites.
Meanwhile, family member from parental side of the deceased alleges that Sarishta Devi was murdered by her in-laws and they protested at cremation ground in village Sundrani.
A case has been registered in connection with death of the housewife and investigation was taken up under Section 174 IPC.
