Housing Board employees hold protest demonstration

JAMMU, Dec 27: All the daily rated workers of J&K Housing Board staged one day protest demonstration and dharna in front of Board office at Green Belt Park, Gandhi Nagar here today.
The workers under the banner of All J&K Housing Board Daily Rated Workers Union, affiliated with National State Govt Employees Federation assembled outside the office of Managing Director, J&K Housing Board at Gandhi Nagar here and started protest demonstration at around 10.30 am. Many workers from Kashmir valley also joined the protest programme.
The workers were shouting slogans in support of their demands. They also strongly criticised the Management of the Board and the DyCM for ignoring the demands of the daily wagers working even for more than 15 years and still waiting for regularization. Suraj Parkash president of the union said that despite assurance by the Government, the workers are not being regularized. They are struggling since long. He said sufficient time has been given to the management but now the employees are being forced to adopt the path of agitation.
Mohd Farooq and Suman Sharma president and general secretary of All J&K Housing Board Employees Association also spoke on the occasion and warned the administration to fill up all the vacant posts by the daily rated workers. They said three members negotiation committee constituted by DyCM gave full assurance to the Association but nothing has been done in this regard so far. They demanded that all the daily wagers be regularized without any further delay. They also demanded pensionary benefits as per JDA, SDA, Local Bodies employees and resolution of other pending demands.
