Housing Colony Kathua deprived of basic amenities: Residents

KATHUA, Mar 24: The residents of Sector-3 of J&K Housing Board Colony, Channgran, Kathua have raised a serious concern, over what they called the most casual approach of the concerned authorities for depriving them of the basic amenities.
The aggrieved residents of the Housing Colony alleged that roads in the colony were not black-topped, the colony sans electric supply and water supply, besides, there is no proper security and eco-friendly environment.
They appealed to the LG, Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister, J&K UT, Omar Abdullah to intervene in the matter in view of the consideration that their miseries have not been readdressed despite the same being highlighted before the authorities at the helm of affairs, including their projection in public darbars conducted by various administrative secretaries at Kathua.
An appeal was also made to authorities to prevent the unnecessary intervention of some local people for obstructing them to carry out the construction work and developmental works and harassing the residents.
Attention of the authorities was also solicited to consider the health hazards caused due to dust pollution, frequent theft cases and other unsocial activities prevailing in Housing Colony Kathua which is under development since the year 1992 so as to give this colony at least some semblance of residential areas.
Prof. Ram Murti Sharma, patron, Kathua Vikas Manch, B.R Dubb, Parshotam Lal Bharti, Kewal Sharma and many others in a joint statement sought immediate intervention of the Government in settling their genuine issues.
