JAMMU, June 2: Minister for Housing and Urban Development Department Sat Paul Sharma reviewed the sewerage and drainage projects.
The projects were reviewed in a meeting, which was also attended by MLA Jammu East Rajesh Gupta.
In the meeting, threadbare discussion was held on projects being undertaken under AMRUT and PMDP in Jammu City.
Minister directed the Chief Engineer, J&K UEED and Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to ensure the timely completion of the projects.
There are three sewerage and 20 drainage projects approved under AMRUT for Jammu City being executed with an estimated cost of Rs 126 crore, out of which all the 3 sewerage projects are in progress and 16 drainage projects are in progress and rest 4 are under process of tendering.
Minister also inspected the ongoing projects viz 4 MLD Sewerage Treatment Plant at Rakh Raipur (Belicharana), Drainage Project Rehari Nallah passing along MA Stadium and GGM Science College and Drainage Project Christian Graveyard.
During the tour, the Minister directed the concerned authorities to put their sincere efforts for time bound completion of the projects so that better facilities could be provided to the residents of the city keeping in view the ensuing monsoon season.
“These projects will be helpful in managing the situation arising during monsoon season and through this, the goal of Swachh Bharat Mission, an initiative taken by the Prime Minister of India, could be achieved”, he added.
The Minister was accompanied by Ramesh Kumar, Commissioner, JMC, Mohammad Haneef Lone, Chief Engineer, J&K UEED, Rajesh Kumar Savan, Vice Chairman, Jammu Development Authority, Satinder Singh Rana, Superintending Engineer and other officers of the department.
