Sir,
With unabated haphazard development of cities and different townships in the State, housing is going to be a serious challenge in the near future. The problem will be acute in the urban areas where population is increasing at a fast rate. There is already a shortage of land in the cities. Huge chunk of land has been converted into commercial complexes. Real estate prices would skyrocket and it would be very difficult for people with meagre earnings to afford a suitable accomodation. At the same time, it can create urban slums in principal cities of J&K. Therefore need for a comprehensive housing policy is a clarion call. So Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies should frame a comprehensive housing policy with focus on the high rise buildings that would also take into account lower income groups and economically weaker sections. More delay means even lesser space and more chaos in terms of unplanned constructions. If the State Govt does not wake up now from its slumber large number of people have to face real hardships in coming years. Housing is one among the essential requirements that people cannot afford to give up on.
Yours etc….
