People of the areas of Dogripora and connected villages in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district have to use fishing boats to cross the river involving associated risks, time and botheration since a vital bridge, construction of which had started in the year 2007, continues to be still incomplete even though its ”ownership” in respect of construction kept changing from one agency to the other mainly on account of the problems of funds. In other words, therefore, even a period of 15 long years is, perhaps, too insufficient for a bridge to be completed regardless of the fact of the problems faced by the people due to such an inordinate delay in its completion.
That, people of a vast area faced problems , the authorities were convinced about the urgent need of this bridge hence its approval and subsequent construction but the work on it still going on at a snail’s pace is beyond expectations. With this bridge over there, various villages in the area could very easily and conveniently get connected to the Srinagar – Anantnag Highway, save time and could result in hassles free movement of people and agricultural produce, vegetables and items of daily use. The ”project” was categorised even as languishing one and thus merited its early completion but it is only an unspecified wait the people of the concerned villages are subjected to even though facing hardships. Could the authorities look into it and have it completed, now, at the earliest?
