JAMMU, Dec 14: Prof Dinesh Singh, Vice-Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Higher Education Council, today chaired Executive Committee meeting of the Council, during which various agenda items were discussed and deliberated in detail.
Detailed discussion was held to devise ways and means for integrating entrepreneurship into degree programs. Discussions revolved around creating supportive ecosystems that nurture startup ideas and provide resources for budding entrepreneurs.
Threadbare discussions were held regarding the incorporation of technology-based learning/ open learning into regular degree programs.
In his remarks, Prof Dinesh Singh emphasized that entrepreneurship has to emerge from academic curriculum of higher education. This can be facilitated through events, workshops, and initiatives that celebrate innovation, he added.
On the occasion, the Journey of Gyanodaya Express- College on wheels was discussed. Alok Kumar, Commissioner Secretary Education, proposed that if possible something similar should be considered for children with special needs.
Speaking on the occasion, JU Vice-chancellor Prof Umesh Rai underlined the need for a change of mindset of faculty. He stressed on introducing training programmes, identifying the interested faculty who can deliver lectures and thereby adding value.
Dr Yasmeen Ashai, Director Colleges, Higher Education Department, UT J&K, expressed satisfaction over the response/project reports she has received from girls from various colleges.
