KATRA, Jan 6: President Hotel & Restaurant Association Katra (HRAK), Sham Lal Kesar and its senior vice president, Rakesh Wazir in a joint statement showed great concern over the decrease in Vaishnodevi Ji yatra.
The statement said that the decrease is of over 35 lakhs in just two years, adding that the Govt, Shrine Board and Tourism Department in particular should change the policies and remain more vigilant, leaving aside the conception that yatra is bound to happen and bound to increase.
The statement further said that the necessary steps with regard to its increase mainly included the change in State’s anti  Pilgrimage and Tourism Policy of restricting Shri Amar Nath and Shri Vaishnodevi Yatra every year on one pretext or the other like vehicle tax at the rate of Rs 3,000 per day at the State entry point and restricting number of trains coming to Katra etc.
The statement further said that it instead needed the measures like wide publicity, organization of various events & festivals, development of infrastructure and cleanliness.
President HRAK said if the Government, Shrine Board and Tourism Department will not take serious note of the decrease in yatra, this yatra will decrease further in the coming years.
