Zonal Level Inter-School Tournaments

JAMMU, May 4: Beating High School Chander Bhaga in a close contest by one point, High School Kotli Tanda claimed the under-17 boys kho-kho title in the ongoing Zonal Level Inter-School Tournaments in the disciplines of kabaddi, volleyball, kho-kho and wrestling, being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports in various zones of Jammu district.
In Akhnoor zone, St Francis HSS clinched double title by trouncing HS Maira Mandrian by 7 points and one point in under-14 and under-17 years boys’ kabaddi finals respectively, while under-14 kho-kho title went to MS Daskal and HS Kotli Tanda remained runners-up. In volleyball under-14 and under-17 years boys, HS Chander Bhaga drubbed St Francis HSS to win twin title. The matches were held under the supervision of Sher Singh, zonal physical education officer, Akhnoor.
Meanwhile, in Jammu zone, the competitions were held in the disciplines of kho-kho, kabaddi and volleyball under the supervision of Ram Kumar Sharma, ZPEO, Jammu. The competitions were inaugurated by Sarita Anand, Principal Government Girls HSS Bakshi Nagar, Jammu.
In kabaddi under-17 boys, HSS Sarwal beat HS Resham Garh, HS Gole Panjpeer trounced SRML, Hari Singh HSS drubbed DPS and HS Muthi thrashed HSS Nowabad, while in kabaddi under-14 boys, MS Sarwal outplayed MS Old Janipur, MS Kachi Chawani drubbed MS Patoli Mangotrian and Activity Public School Janipur scripted narrow win over MS Bakshi Nagar.
Meanwhile, in volleyball under-17 years boys competition, KC International outclassed HSS Muthi and Model Academy beat St Peters HS to advance in the tournament.
In kho-kho under-17 boys, SOS toppled Hari Singh HSS, HSS Nowabad prevailed over DPS, HS Janipur got better of HS Bhagwati Nagar and HSS Sarwal thrashed SRML, while in kho-kho under-14 boys, SOS defeated MS New Plot, HS Rajpura drubbed HS Toph Sherkhanian and HS Janipur beat MS Sarwal to move into next round.
At Government Higher Secondary School Miran Sahib, HS Kirpind beat HS Simbal Camp in under-14 boys kabaddi, while in kho-kho under-14 boys HS Simbal Camp trounced MS Kotli Mian Fateh.
In Gandhi Nagar zone, the competitions were held under the supervision of ZPEO Kiran Jyoti. HSS Gandhi Nagar beat HS Digyana in kabaddi under-17 boys, HS Channi trounced HS Kaluchak and HS Chowdhi thrashed Dogra HSS, while in kabaddi under-14 boys, kho-kho under-17 boys and kho-kho under-14 boys, HS Digyana, HSS Gandhi Nagar and HS Kaluchak won their matches respectively.
The competitions in all the four disciplines were also held in Marh, Bhalwal and Dansal zones under the supervision of ZPEOs Mulkh Raj, Bhim Singh and Jeet Singh respectively.
Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports, SS Bali, was also present who encouraged the players on the occasion.
