JAMMU, May 13: Four poetry collections written by Dr. Nirmal Vinod, a noted writer were released by Hindi Sahitya Mandal, Jammu (HSM-J) in a function held here today.
The poetry books titled ‘Chhed Ghazal Aisi Nirmal’, and ‘Shayad Ye Ghazal Ho’ (in Hindi) and ‘Den Rangley Mausmein Di’, and ‘Nirarthak Neyeen Akkhar’, (free verse poetry in Dogri), were released during the function.
Dr. Lalit Magotra, President Dogri Sanstha and a noted writer was the special guest on this occasion whereas Prakash ‘Premi’, Sahitya Akademi Awardee noted writer of J&K was the guest of honour.
Speaking on this occasion, Prof. R D Sharma in his presidential address appreciated HSM for arranging such literary events and also appreciated Dr. Nirmal Vinod’s contribution in the field of literature of multiple regional languages.
Dr. Lalit Magotra in his address, emphasized on the content of the poetry included in the book.
He said the introvert tendency and speaking to oneself is evident in his latest poetry.
Earlier, Dr. Nirmal Vinod recited his poetry and expressed his views on his journey and process of creative writing.
Hailing from Jammu, Dr. Vinod Nirmal has done Ph. D. and has been contributing in genres of poetry, short stories, research papers, translation, editing, news reader on Doordarshan and All India Radio, and so on since 1976 in different local languages and dialects.
He has written 8 books in Hindi (1976 onwards), 7 books in Dogri (1990 onwards), a Punjabi poetry book (during 2019), 3 books of translation from Dogri to Hindi, 1 book each of translation from Hindi to Dogri, English to Dogri and has edited 4 books.
His creations and their translated versions have been published in many local and national newspapers and magazines.
Prof. (Dr.) R D Sharma, former Vice- Chancellor of University of Jammu, presided over the programme.
Dr. Chanchal Dogra, President, HSM-J, and Dr. Nirmal Vinod shared the dais. A large number of intellectuals and writers attended the programme.
A two minutes silence was observed to pay tributes to S. Surjit Sing Patar,a prominent Punjabi writer and Sahit Akademi Awardee, on his sudden demise on 11th May, 2024.
