HSM, VKK organize Hindi Kavi Gosthhi

JAMMU, Sept 18: A Hindi Kavi Gosthhi was organized by Hindi Sahitya Mandal, Jammu (HSM-J) in collaboration with Viraj Kala Kendra (VKK), Jammu at ICAI Bhawan, Canal Road, Jammu on Sunday, in connection with the celebration of Hindi Week.
Prof Raj Kumar presided over the programme whereas Satish Kumar Sharma, noted writer & former Commissioner Income Tax was the chief guest on this occasion. Prof Chanchal Dogra, President HSM-J and Raj Bharti, President, VKK, were present on the dais. A large number of poets, intellectuals and lovers of poetry and Hindi were present in the programme.
Rakesh Abrol, General Secretary, HSM-J, invited the guests and dignitaries and introduced them to the audience. Dr Chanchal Dogra gave a brief of the activities of HSM J.
In the poetry recitation session, young, senior and veteran poets of Jammu & Kashmir presented their poetry based on the themes of Hindi as national language, and other issues related to the contemporary world as well as the Nature.
The poets who recited their poetry, included Shamendra Kumar, Sanjiv Bhasin, Maharaj Krishan Santoshi, Sheikh Mohd. Kalyan, Uma Sharma, Manto Dutta Sharma, Rakesh Abrol, Dr Chanchal Dogra, Jang S Verman, Dr Pawan Khajuria, Sofia Jangral, Dimpal Verma, Amita Mehta, Shuvam Mankotia, Pawan Verma, Rajiv Sharma, Avnish Sharma, Rajendra Kumar Narang, Kiran Kanchan, Santosh Sangra, Savita Sharma, Shyam Bihari Jadeja, and others.
In his presidential address Dr. Raj Kumar said that the poetry of present times has seen a drastic change with the changing times. He said that the poets need to proceed alone with the current affairs and the latest trends in poetry as well as the life style. He said the stage poetry must compel the listener to think over the issues raised by the piece of poetry. He advised the new writers to avoid excessive use of experimentation in their creations and still maintaining the originality of the poet’s feelings, thoughts and ideas.
Expressing his views, Satish Kumar Sharma emphasized on the induction of more youth in the field of creative fields. He also emphasizes on developing good habit of reading books and magazines etc.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Uma Sharma, Literary Secretary, HSM-J. The vote of thanks was extended by Raj Bharti, President, VKK.
