JAMMU, Dec 7: Hindustan Shiv Sena (HSS) has expressed serious concern over the decision of the State Government to enhance the fares of passenger transport.
At a joint press conference HSS president Dimpy Kohli and its general secretary G I Singh demanded immediate roll back of the decision.
Mr Singh said as a matter of fact common man has already been crushed by the  inflation and unbearable prices of essential commodities. It is difficult for him to make his both ends meet. Fares of the buses, metadors, autorikshaws are already so high that regular commuters are facing a lot of problem and not in a position to spend huge amount from their salaries or work.
He said HSS is totally opposed to this move of the State Government to further hike the fares of passenger transport. “We are not against the transporters who demand fare hikes due to hike in diesel prices’’. But we demand that VAT on diesel and petrol which is 21% and is on very higher side should be reduced to 7-8% which will compensate people also’’he added. Besides VAT excise and custom duty should be reduced as done by other States, he said.
