Human Chain Formation, Peace Walk held

JAMMU, Sept 21: As a part of International Day of Peace celebration, Catholic Social Service Society (CSS) in collaboration with Prayas, JK Peace Mission, Vichar Kranti Manch International and Retd Officers Forum organized a “Human Chain Formation and Peace walk” today.
Hundreds of students from various schools formed a huge human chain from Satwari to the Main Stop Gandhi Nagar carrying placards with messages of peace and harmony.
Fr Kuriakose, Parish Priest, Garrison church, flagged off the peace walk from St. Mary’s Garrison Church, Gandhi Nagar, which after passing through Main Stop culminated in Presentation School ground.
The Peace Walk was followed by a function, which was inaugurated by BR Kundal, MLC, in presence of Surinder Kumar Gupta, DIG CID, Jammu, Fr. Soosai Nathan, Chancellor, Jammu Srinagar Diocese and other dignitaries.
The function began with a prayer dance by the students of St Antony’s Convent School, Vijaypur. The performances by Anmol Jaswal and Vidhi Jaswal, Indian Idol Junior Fames and Dance by St. John’s Rehabilitation Centre, Mandal, were highly appreciated by the audience. The group songs by YPC groups of Akalpur and Smailpur units really highlighted the importance of Peace and Harmony. Simran Kour a student of St. Peter Higher Secondary School, BC Road got first prize in speech competition.
Among others present were Shreyansh K Jain, President, VKMI, Rajesh Sharma, Chairman, Prayas, Fr. S. Joseph, Principal, St. Francis Higher Secondary School, Akhnoor, Sansar Chand, Sanjoyak, Akhnoor, Fr. Justin Thiraviam, Director, CSSS, etc.
