JAMMU, May 29: Jesht Ashtami was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety today. The main function was held at Mata Kheer Bhawani temple at Bhawani Nagar, here where hundreds of devotees thronged from early in the morning.
The devotees coming from different parts of Jammu paid their obeisance to the Godess and performed Pooja -archana to seek blessings. The Bhawani Nagar temple is the replica of Mata Kheer Bhawani temple of Tulmulla Kashmir which has been built by the devotees soon after the mass migration of Pandits from Valley and since then on every Ashtami of the month in general and Jesht Ashtami in particular the large number of devotees used to visit the shrine to pay their obeisance.
The Trust looking after the shrine had made elaborate arrangements for the pilgrims this year too. Besides the voluntary and social organizations had also installed stalls to provide Pooja Samgri including flowers, milk, dhoop, Agarbatis and earthen dhiyas to devotees.
The entire temple complex was decorated and illuminated on the occasion.
The darshan started early in the morning and it continued late in the evening. In the evening Samohik Aarti was performed and a large number of pilgrims attended it.
The Bajan Kirtan was also held in the temple complex from last night and it continued early in the morning.
The authorities had also made elaborate arrangements for the pilgrims and proper attention was paid for sanitation, water and electric supply in the area.
In connection with celebration of Jesht Ashtami a religious function was held at Sanjeevani Kuteer, Krishna Satsang Ashram, Suriya Vihar Bohri where a large number of devotees participated in the pooja performed by Guru Mahraj Anand Swami Pran Nath Bhat Gareeb (Baijee). The pooja started early in the morning and continued late in the night. On the occasion Swami Ji gave religious discourses and highlighted the significance and importance of the day especially for KPs. The entire environment became magical and mesmerizing.
In connection with Jesht Ashtami a function was held at the KP Sabha where a large number of devotees performed Pooja in the temple of Mata Bhawani. The temple was decorated and illuminated to its aesthetic taste. President of Sabha K K Khosa and his team of Executives led the Samohik Pooja. After Aarti Prasad was distributed.
On the occasion of Jesht Ashtami Pushp Arahcana was performed at Sharika Peeth Sansthan Subash Nagar, Jammu and a large number of devotees participated in the Pooja Archana.
