Hundreds of devotees throng Mirzakak Samadhi on annual Jag

JAMMU, May 17: The annual Jag of Swami Mirzakak a mystic saint of medeival Kashmir was observed with religious fervour and gaiety today. In this connection hundreds of devotees visited village Hangalgund in Kokernag tehsil of Anantnag district in South Kashmir where a Mahayagya was performed on Swami Ji’s Samadhi.
The Mahayagya started yesterday evening and it culminated this afternoon with Puranahuti.
The devotees from Jammu and other parts of Valley visited the Samadhi of Swami Mirzakak popularly known as Kak Sahab and paid obeisance to this spiritual saint to seek his blessings.
Bhajan Kirtan was held on the occasion by the devotees who were served with prashad after Puranahuti. The religious scholars threw light on the life and teachings of mystic saint and his verses (Vaakh) were recited by devotees. They said Swami Mirzakak had kept Vaakh Parampara (tradition) alive who was a great spiritual soul. They said it was Swami Ji who had spelled a doom for then tyrant Afghan ruler of Kashmir and it’s mention is in one of his verses. The speakers said Swami Ji had performed many miracles during his lifetime one included spelling doom for Afghan ruler.
The religious function was organised both at Hangalgund and Swami Ji’s Nagrota Ashram Jammu by Swami Mirzakak Trust led by Bushan Lal Hangloo it’s president and Avtar Krishan Raina general secretary.
This was for the first time in last 32 years of turmoil that hundreds of devotees from Jammu visited the Samadhi of Swami Ji in Hangalgund to perform religious function.
Large number of devotees also visited Nagrota Ashram where also a Mahayagya was performed.
