Hundreds of devotees throng Prachin Amarnath at Thajiwara

JAMMU, Aug 31: Hundreds of devotees drawn from different parts of UT of J&K thronged the Prachin Amarnath in Thajiwara, in Bijbehara tehsil of Anantnag district to pay obeisance to Lord Shiva on the occasion of Sawan Purnima today.
On the occasion a Maha Yagya was solemnized by Vijeshwar Devasthan Trust, Bijbehara under the supervision of Jyotshi Avtar Krishan Shastri. The Hawan started yesterday evening and culminated with Puranahuti this afternoon which was followed by serving of Prashad to devotees.
A Shiv Lingam was also recovered after 35 years from the area by the devotees, which was placed on sanctum scant -rum some days back. The devotees participated in day -long Puja Archana today. The local Muslims of the area warmly welcomed their Hindu brethren in the area and extended all cooperation to them in performing religious function.
The Prachin Amarnath Shrine at Thajiwara was visited by devotees from times immemorial. Leaders of various political parties also visited the shrine to receive the Yatris yesterday which included PDP chief and former CM, Mehbooba Mufti, former Minister and senior PDP leader Abdul Rehman Veeri, and leaders of NC, BJP and LJP.
The Vijeshwar Devasthan Trust Bijbehara had made all arrangements for the Yatris who visited there from different parts of Valley and Jammu region.
