JAMMU, Sept 10: In connection with observance of 10th Muharram (Ashura) a procession was taken out from here, today by the Muslims belonging to Shia Sector The procession started from Ziyarat Peer Mitha under the banner of Anjuman-e-Imamia, Jammu. A Shabihey Zuljinah and a procession of Ashura were taken out where thousands of mourners across the region participated to pay homage to the martyrdom of Imam Hussain the grandson of Prophet Hazrat Mohammad.

A brief Majlis was delivered by Molana Syed Jalal Haider Naqvi secretary Ulema-e-Hind New Delhi. In his address he stressed upon the teachings of Imam Hussain. After passing through the traditional route the procession culminated at Karbala complex Wazarat road where Majlis Sham-e-Ghariban was delivered by Molana Syed Jalal Haider Naqvi..
Another procession was taken out from New Plots by Anjuman-e-Haidery New Plot and merged with the main procession at Imam Bargah Sofi Shah Peer Mitha.
Ashura, is the 10th day of Muharram and on this day Imam Hussain and his 72 companions laid down their lives and saved humanity and the values of Islam, battling against the tyranny of Yazid, the ruler and Caliph of Muslim Ummah at that time.
Addressing media vice president of Anjumam-e-Imamia, Jammu Syed Afaq Husain Kazmi said “it is our duty to spread the message of pure Islam that has been gifted upon us by Prophet Hazard Mohammad,. Ashure gives a message to entire humanity that we should stand firm against the oppressor and never for go our responsibilities even though we need to sacrifice our self for the cause”, he added.
Prof. Sujat Khan, Secretary Anjumam-e-Imamia, Jammu while speaking to media said that Karbala is not a political battle and not even a battle between individuals but it’s a battle of ideologies, Imam Hussain wanted to rise the stature of this sacrifice to such a level that people were forced to think about this supreme sacrifice and follow the values of Islam. He further added that Rebar-e-Miasma Syed Ali Khomeini quoted that” What has led to the grandeur of Imam Hussain and his companions is that the great number of enemies did not stop them from fighting against injustice”. The battle of Karbala is the only battle in the history on which the blood got success over sword, he added.
Sohail Kazmi senior Journalist and member of Advisory Com-mittee Anjuman-e-Imamia, Jammu complimented Governor Satya Pal Malik and the administration for their role and support during all the days of Muharram”.
At New Plot the volunteers of Jammu West Assembly Move-ment Led by Sunil Dimple also joined the procession and prayed for peace and communal harmony in J&K. Dimple said people belonging to all communities live in complete brotherhood and peace in Jammu and they share and participate in the festivals of each other with same zeal and enthusiasm as they celebrate the festivals of their own religion.
Muhharam processions were also taken out at Chanderkot Ramban and other places in Jammu region in which a large number of mourners reciting Noha participated and paid tributes to martyrs of Karbala.
