Hundreds participate in religious function held at Ajit Colony

Dy Mayor, Baldev Singh Billawaria and BJP spokesperson G L Raina during a religious function held at Ajit Colony Gole Gujral on Sunday.

JAMMU, Apr 23: A grand religious function was held at Ajit Colony, Gole Gujral in which a large number of people took part.
The Deputy Mayor Jammu, Baldev Singh Billawaria was the chief guest on the occasion while former MLC and senior BJP leader, G L Raina was guest of honour. The function was organised by Pardeep Sharma a social activist.
Speaking on the occasion, Baldev Singh Billawaria asked people that holding of religious get-togethers has been a tradition of Indian culture from times immemorial. If practised in true sense religion is a great strength of a human being, he added.
He said such functions not only strengthen inter community bonds but also bind the society in one string who can unitedly face all challenges.
He said the Indian culture has assimilated everything and the beauty of our culture is unity in diversity. “The philosophy of our religion is that entire world is a one family and we believe in the principle of welfare of all,” he added.
Billawaria said this is the reason that all the ancient civilizations in the world vanished while our culture and civilization stood all odds and has become more relevant day by day. He said by practicing religion in a true sense one can overcome all the barriers in his life.
He said, “Besides holding such get to-gethers we should help the needy and suffering in the society so that they don’t lag behind others in the life”.
G L Raina in his address while stressing on holding such programmes said “They link us to our deep roots and also this way the good Sanskars are imbibed in the younger generation”. He said Hindu religion is vast and a great philosophy which has produced world famous sages and scholars from time to time.
Pardeep Sharma also spoke on the occasion and said that they have been conducting such religious programmes from time to time.
On the occasion, a Jagrata was also held in which the bhajans were recited by well known singers. The devotees were also served with prashad.
Besides the local corporator, BJP co convener Kashmir, H L Bhat, social activist, Ashok Kangan, Jyotshi Avatar Krishan Shastri, Sunil Koul, Puran Chand, Dileep Shah, C L Zutshi and other prominent people attended the function.
