THAJIWARA (BIJBEHARA), Aug 10: Hundreds of devotees of Lord Shiva assembled at Pracheen Cave of Swami Amarnath Thajiwara at Bijbehara today.
This year more than six thousand devotees paid obeisance at the holy cave till August 10, 2014.
On the occasion, langar/Prashad was also offered to the devotees, which was organized by the Devasthan Prabandak Committee, Bijbehara-Anantnag.
The District administration had made elaborate arrangements of availability of power, drinking water and sanitation for which the devotees have thanked the Government.
Thajiwara Cave is considered the origin of Swami Amarnath Cave in the Himalaya. It is the sacred cave where Mata Parvati observed strict penance (Thapasiya) to please Lord Shiva for knowing eternal truth of this universe. The Lord Shiva was pleased with the penance and revealed the truth of the universe (Brahmand) at a secluded place known as Swami Amarnath Cave in the Himalays.
The day where the eternal truth was revealed was Shrawan Purnimashi. It is the reason that yatra and festival are celebrated at this place of pilgrimage.
