JAMMU, July 7: The ongoing hunger strike by the Contractual Lecturers (10+2) entered into 144th day on Friday as there has been no response from the Government over their demand of regularization.
This morning, fresh batch of Contractual Lecturers began their chain hunger strike and the protesters also held a demonstration amidst raising of slogans against the State Government and in support of their demand.

They alleged that the Government did nothing for them except providing lip service and assuring to look into their issue. They reiterated their resolve to continue the ongoing protest till their demand is conceded.
Those who began rotational hunger strike this morning, included Shipeel Singh, Arun Bakshi, Madhvi Sharma and Ramna Kumari.
These agitating Contractual Lecturers are demanding their regularization as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010, a policy framed for the regularization of all the Ad hoc, Contractual and Consolidated employees after seven years of their service.
While addressing the protest demonstration, Arun Bakshi, president of the Contractual Lecturers (10+2) Association, informed that they were getting full support of their counterparts in Kashmir valley. “The Contractual Lecturers in Kashmir recently observed a 2-day pen down strike in support of the demand for regularization and assured an active support in the ongoing struggle,” he said.
