SRINAGAR, Sept 26: The hunger strike by National Youth Corps (NYC) employees entered 26th day here today.

The NYC employees are on hunger strike since September 1 demanding the implementation of a Cabinet order passed by the previous coalition Government in the year 2014.

The agitating employees said that the ruling coalition Government has not implemented the order so far despite repeated assurances to the NYC employees by Mehbooba Mufti, the PDP president and Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu.

“We will not end our protest. Our hunger strike would continue,” Asif Ali Bhat, the state president of NYC Association, told the Excelsior.

Not only NYC employees from Kashmir are on hunger strike but their counter-parts from Jammu are also with them. There are nearly 70 NYC employees from Jammu who are also on hunger strike here.

Since their hunger strike began, dozens of politicians, social activists and employees leaders visited the protesting site.
