Hunger strike by selected warden candidates enters second day

JAMMU, Dec 3: The hunger strike by all selected candidates of warden in jail police of the Prison Department entered second day here today.
Unprecedented delay in release of the final selection list, the candidates who had appeared in the interview for the post of warden in jail police of the Police Department continued their protest.
The protestors, who are sitting on hunger strike in front of Press Club are Ashwani Kumar, Romi Sharma and Pankaj Sharma.
The protestors said that they will not stop their struggle until their demands are not conceded.
They demanded release of final selection list, which was pending for the last more than three years due to the reasons best known to the concerned authorities.
“We will intensify our agitation if their Government failed to redress out demands at the earliest”, they warned.
The protestors informed that about 43,000 unemployed youth had applied for the post advertised in 2005 and 1200 candidates were short-listed for the interview, which was held in the month of September 2010. They added that even after lapse of over three years, the final selection list has not been released.
“We took up our demands with Chief Minister, Ministers, concerned officers and senior leaders of the opposition parties, but nothing has been done by them”, they alleged.
The protestors urged the Chief Minister to personally intervene in the matter and get their demands redressed at the earliest.
Among others present were Harpreet Singh, Naresh Kumar, Tilak Raj, Jodh Singh, Satnam Singh, Sardari Lal, Deepak Gupta, Ravi Kumar, Kulbir Singh, Sunny Gupta, Jagpal Singh and Sudhir Singh.
