JAMMU, July 29: The ongoing hunger strike by contractual lecturers (10+2) entered into 166th day today.
The chain hunger strike was continued today by Surinder Kumar, Abdul Jabbar Bhat, Ranjan Bala and Shila Raina. Shouting slogans, the protesting contractual lecturers also held protest demonstration at the dharna site near Exhibition Ground.
The contractual lecturers are demanding their regularization as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010, a Legislature passed for the regularization of all the ad-hoc/ Contractual/Consolidated employees on completion of seven years of their service.
Meanwhile, a delegation of contractual lecturers led by their president, Arun Bakshi, met Speaker, Legislative Assembly, and put forward their demand. Kavinder Gupta assured the delegation that their demand will be looked into.
