Srinagar, Sept 4: Hunger strike of employees of National Youth Corps (NYC) entered fourth day here in city centre with many of them being hospitalized following health deterioration.
Hundreds of NYC employees are camping at Pratap Park of Lal Chowk here since last 3 days and today was the fourth day of their hunger strike protest. The NYC employees are demanding implementation of a Cabinet order vis-à-vis their induction into Education Department.
The employees Association of NYC said initially they were supposed to hold 72 hour hunger strike but now they are going for indefinite strike as Government showed no interest in implementation of the Cabinet order.
“It is unfortunate that we got no formal communication from Government so for and that is why we continued our hunger strike following the poor response on implementation of Cabinet decision and Government order,” the NYC employees said.
The NYC employees’ association said that several of their associates were hospitalized following health deterioriation. Those who were hospitalized include Nasir Ahmad, Parwaiz Ahmad, Anil Kumar, Pardeep Kumar, Abbas Shah Bhat, Danish, Khalid Mir and Mohinder Singh.
Meanwhile, various political leaders and social activists joined the hunger strike which includes PDF president and MLA Khan Sahab, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen. He expressed full sympathy with the NYC employees and requested the Coalition Government to solve their issue.
