Hurdles being created in enrolling migrant voters: Handoo

JAMMU, Oct 15: BJP senior leader and ex Corporator Sheela Handoo today alleged that hurdles are being created by some bureaucrats and officers in enrolling the Kashmiri migrant voters.
In a statement issued here, today she said some bureaucrats and officers having vested interests are creating hurdles in enrolling of migrant voters. The process of issuing EPIC and enrolling as voters, which was started a few months back has not been completed till date and the forms which were issued at zonal offices are still incomplete, she added.
She also alleged that forms for EPIC and enrolling as voters were not issued for many Assembly constituencies and since the migration an new generation is entitled for adult franchise but there is no proper system for enrolling this generation, she added.
Mrs Handoo in an appeal to Chief Election Commission of India urged him to look into the matter personally and issue orders and instructions to concerned authorities of speeding up the enrolling of voters and issuing of EPIC to migrants.
