Hurriyat activist, hotel owner arrested for uploading objectionable photo

JAMMU, Aug 28: Police today arrested an activist of Hurriyat Conference and a hotel owner from Pir Mitha for allegedly hurting the sentiments of a community by posting an objectionable photograph on social media.
As per reliable police sources, some people telephonically informed Pir Mitha police station that some persons uploaded an objectionable photograph on social networking site thus hurting the sentiments of a particular community and creating hatred among the society.
Acting accordingly, a case under FIR Number 50/15 under Section 153-A, 295-A and 120-B RPC and IT Act was registered at Pir Mitha police station and hunt was launched to nab the persons.
On specific inputs, police team conducted a raid and arrested two persons from Pir Mitha area.
The accused have been identified as Jasarat Khan, son of Mohammad Ashraf Khan of Channi Rama and activist of Hurriyat Conference Hilal Ahmed Beig, son of Ghulam Mohammad Beig, a resident of Talab Khatikan.
During the course of investigation, it came to fore that over one dozen cases stands registered against Hilal Ahmed Beig in the past and was also booked three times under Public Safety Act (PSA). Jasarat Khan is owner of Hotel, which he runs in Gujjar Nagar area.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
Police team led by SDPO City Perbeet Singh Parihar along with SHO Pir Mitha police station Javed Akhtar made the arrest under the supervision of SP City Shiv Kumar Singh Chouhan and Incharge SSP Jammu Rajiv Pandey.
