JAMMU Feb 22: In the backdrop of Hyderabad blasts, former cricketer and BJP leader Kirti Azad today termed Union Home Ministry a ‘failure’ and asked the Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde to resign from the post.
“It is a complete failure on Home Ministry’s side and despite intelligence inputs, no measures were taken,” Mr Azad told reporters here this afternoon.
Mr Azad was here in the town to review party working and chair a meeting of State BJP leadership.
“Issue of blasts should not be politicized and the Government should seriously think over it to avoid such incidents in future,” he added.
He said not only intelligence agencies’ failure but also lack of coordination between states and the Centre is one of the major reasons behind the blasts.
“Mr Shinde has completely failed as Home Minister and he should immediately quit,” the BJP Member Parliament said. He stressed on making of tough laws to contain the terror in the country and criticized those who revoked TADA.
On Jammu and Kashmir, he said issues, which are being neglected and not addressed by the State Government, will be highlighted in the Parliament session.
“Issues including Empowerment of Panchs and Sarpanchs, abrogation of Article 370, West Pakistan refugees and many others will be raised by the BJP in Parliament,” he added.
On projecting Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as Prime Ministerial candidate, Mr Azad said, “BJP national president Rajnath Singh has already made a clear statement on this and it is party’s prerogative to decide the candidate.”
BJP national executive member and chief spokesman of the State Dr Jitendra Singh said in response to question regarding to State Government refusing to allow Praveen Bhai Togadia to come out of Airport on his arrival. He said that the BJP believes that the democratic rights of every Indian citizen should be given due respect irrespective of whoever is the person.
BJP National Executive member Dr Jitendara Singh, general secretary Kavinder Gupta and Bali Bhagat were also present in the press conference.
