MUMBAI, Aug 23: South Korean automaker Hyundai today launched an all-new version of its mid-sized sedan, Verna, here with introductory price starting at Rs 7.99 lakh.
Hyundai said the introductory prices will be applicable for first 20,000 customers only and after that it will revise them upward.
“The Verna brand has been a landmark product in Hyundai growth story. The Next Gen Verna is engineered to deliver excellence in all core areas of styling, performance, technology, safety and ride and handling,” Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) Managing Director and CEO Y K Koo said.
The 5th generation Verna comes with new features such as projector headlamps with LED daytime running light, projector fog lamps with chrome surround as well as rear adjustable head rest, among others.
The latest model comes with 1.6 litre petrol and diesel engines mated with both manual and automatic transmissions.
While the petrol variants of the Verna are priced between Rs 7.99-12.23 lakh, the diesel variants will cost Rs 9.19 lakh to Rs 12.61 lakh.
“Introductory prices will be protected for first 20,00 customers. We will take a price increase after 20,000 units,” HMIL Director – Sales & Marketing – Rakesh Srivastava said.
Hyundai, the second largest car manufacturer and leading passenger car exporter in India, currently has ten car models across segments – Eon, Grand i10, Elite i20, Active i20, Xcent, Verna, CRETA, Elantra, Tucson and Santa Fe.
It has a network of 480 dealers and more than 1,260 service points across India. (PTI)
