I joined Cong due to ill-treatment by BJP: Shettar

HUBBALLI, Apr 23: Former BJP leader Jagadish Shettar met Rahul Gandhi on Sunday for the first time after joining Congress and said that he crossed over to the grand old party because of BJP’s ill-treatment.
“I joined Congress as everyone knows the ill-treatment meted out to me by the BJP. Therefore, I joined another national party, and Rahul Gandhi is the leader of that party. I discussed many issues,” Shettar told a section of media.
After he was denied ticket by the BJP, Shettar alleged that some vested interests are controlling the ruling party in Karnataka.
Shettar said: “People are talking about the ill-treatment of seniors and not on other issues. Some people with vested interest are controlling the ruling party and its Government in Karnataka.”
Shettar filed his nomination from the Hubli-Dharwad-Central assembly constituency on Wednesday for May 10 election.
Shettar was the second heavyweight leader to quit the saffron party and join the Congress in less than a week after Savadi, ex-DyCM, who had also been denied ticket to contest from Athani constituency by the BJP. Shettar is set to face BJP’sMahesh Tenginkai in the election. (UNI)
