KOLKATA: She is a woman who is completely aware of her ageless beauty and contagious smile and thinks that the secret of all these is nothing but her honesty and mindset.
Whenever she visits the city of joy, she badly misses Satyajit Ray. “I often think of that in my long career there is a shortfall or deficit, and it’s that my filmography doesn’t have any Ray’s film”, said Lalita Rani who is better known as Jaya Prada in an exclusive chat with UNI. City of joy is also the city of love, she think. Last time she produced and featured in Ashoke Biswanathan directed Bengali film ‘Sesh Sanghat’ on behalf her own Jaya Prada Productions. Eventually, ‘Sesh Sanghat’ also was her production debut. In spite of ruling the Southern film industry and Bollywood she firmly says with her unique contagious smile, “I did my most of works in those industries it doesn’t mean I can’t produce Bengali film. Actually, in that time (2009) naxalite movement in Lalgarh and some other side was very much live and it’s also a fact that no one is born-naxal. They also have some stories and motive behind them which leads them to revolt. So I liked the story and got involved.” Like many creative persons out of Bengal she also thinks that till now Bengali film is somehow something more than a commercial film. Somehow the audience of Indian cinema missed her elegant beauty after she got involved in politics but she refuses to admit, saying “If you particularly mention Hindi film then it’s okay but I was never ever refrained myself from film as I have acted in so much of regional films all the years through. I like to mention a film in Kannada named ‘Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna’ where I played the character of Rani Kittur Chennamma; is a high budgeted historical film and it’s a film had hit the screen before ‘Baahubali’ and ‘Rudhramadevi’ release,” said Jaya. She will be very soon seen in Telugu film ‘Sarabha’ in which we will also see bong beauty Mishti Chakraborty in a significant role. Jaya already have acted in around 300 movies and she was missing Bengali film and now she started shooting for her upcoming Bengali film ‘Aatwaja’ where for the first time in her career she is playing a muslim character. “I’m very much excited with the role Tanaaz. First time I am portraying a muslim character onscreen and it has some shades and scopes of acting too,”said the ageless diva. (AGENCIES)
