London, Jul 31 (PTI) Actress Hayley Atwell said “Wonder Woman” turned out to be a successful film and praised Gal Gadot for her performance as the titular character.
The 35-year-old actress, who is popular for her role as Agent Peggy Carter from the “Captain America” film franchise, said she found the Patty Jenkins-directed film quite entertaining, reported Entertainment Weekly.
“I thought it was a triumph. I came out of that walking on air, and I think what’s brilliant about it is, it’s a genre piece, it’s a superhero movie, it’s pitch-perfect from Gal’s performance to the script to the music. It has just the right amount of tongue-in-cheek humour, it’s engaging, and I was so so surprised by the end of it,” Atwell said.
The actress added the film was all the more special as both the protagonist and the director were women.
“Seventy-six years in the making, that’s breaking box- office records, and it’s led by a woman, and it’s directed by a woman. I was like, ‘Patty! Jenkins! Yes!’
“It’s going, ‘Come on, let’s represent who we really are as women.’ They did it beautifully. Not only did they pull it off, they were just like, ‘Boom!’ They excelled.”
“Wonder Woman 2” is currently slated for release on December 13, 2019. (PTI)
