IAF airlifts 264 stranded passengers

JAMMU, Mar 4:  The Indian Air Force today launched a special aircraft sortie to airlift  264 stranded passengers, from Jammu to Leh, on being requisitioned by the civil administration.
A giant IL-76 transport aircraft of the IAF was pressed into service  to ferry the stranded passengers mostly hailing from Leh and Kargil districts.  A total of  264 passengers, which included 40 women and children were airlifted.
Air Cmde PE Patange, the Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station Jammu and Gp Capt Sridhar, the Chief Operations Officer of Air Force Station Jammu personally supervised the smooth conduct of the entire airlift operation.
During the airlift operation, the personnel of the Air Force Station worked tirelessly, with full support from the civil administration thereby ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of the passengers without any inconvenience.
