NEW DELHI, Aug 19: Based on modifications made by the Government and conveyed to both the Houses of Parliament through a statement by Minister of State (Personnel) , MoS (PMO) and MoS (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) today issued instructions for the IAS and other Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2014 to be held on Sunday.
According to Dr Jitendra Singh, the instructions have been notified in order to clarify doubts or apprehensions ,if any, in the minds of the candidates appearing for the exam.
As per instructions issued by DoPT, the Union Government has decided that in Paper-II of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2014 to be held on Sunday, August 24, the section on English Language Comprehension Skills will not count for gradation or merit.
The notification emphasizes that the section on English Language Comprehension Skills would not count towards gradation or merit and therefore even if the candidates attempt it, marks will not be counted.
However, the duration of the Paper II would remain two hours and candidates can utilize the entire time in answering other questions if they are not attempting the Section containing English Language Comprehension Skills.
The maximum marks for Paper II would be “200 minus the marks earmarked for the English Language Comprehension Skills”.
