JAMMU, Oct 30: Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, conducted inspection of its various media units in Jammu today to assess the progress of activities undertaken under Swachhata Special Campaign 4.0.
Deputy Secretary Prem Chand, visited the Press Information Bureau, Central Bureau of Communication, DD News and Akashwani to inspect the activities under the campaign which aims at promoting cleanliness in government offices.
During his visit to Media Centre Building housing PIB and CBC, he was given a detailed presentation on a host of activities conducted as part of the campaign which commenced on 2nd October and will conclude on 31st October. It represents the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for institutionalizing Swachhata and reducing pendency in government, for changing old practices, weeding out old files and papers, better utilization of free space, improving sanitization protocols and above all technology adoption.
Director CBC, Jammu and Ladakh, Ghulam Abbas and Media and Communication Officer, PIB, Jammu, Zakir Nazeer apprised Prem Chand about the progress of activities conducted so far, focusing on promotion of cleanliness in the two media units. He was also briefed on the publicity activities conducted by PIB and CBC to create awareness among the general public about the campaign.
Prem Chand visited officers’ rooms, administration and accounts wings and store rooms of both units to assess the level of progress made towards achieving Swachhata saturation, with overall cleanliness and timely disposal of scrap. He appreciated PIB and CBC for adopting the best practices like ban on use of single use plastic and smoking within the premises. He also hailed them for effective space management, especially converting the freed space into several rooms.
Later, Prem Chand inspected the variety of saplings planted by the officers and staff in the garden of Media Centre Building as part of Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign. He urged the participants of the campaign to take care of the planted saplings themselves and nurture them on daily basis.
