Sir,
The decision of the Government to grant reservation benefits to people living along International Border is more than welcome. It was long overdue to these people who bear the brunt of cross border firing almost on daily basis. During the last two to three year they have suffered terribly losing both men and material. No compensation paid to them is going to make good their loss.
They need to be assured, time and again, that their grievance will be addressed on priority basis. It has been seen in the past that they had to rush from pillar to post to seek compensation or redressal of their grievances.
While seeking justice from the concerned quarters, they have faced humiliation and maltreatment at the hands of those who were supposed to provide them succour.
The State and Central Government must make every endeavour to settle them at places where they feel safe, and don’t have to leave their homes whenever there is firing on the border.
