JAMMU, Sept 5: The executive committee of J&K branch of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) led by its chairman, CA Dalip K Kaul, today met the Commissioner of Income Tax, (J&K), AK Thathai and impressed upon him for seeking of extension in the due date of filing of Income Tax returns of assesses whose accounts are required to be audited till, by a further period of three months.
The demand for extension was mainly raised due to the recent civil disturbances in the State due to Kishtwar turmoil. It was also conveyed to Commissioner that the online filing scheme is being frequently revised by the Income Tax Department wherein a lot of technical difficulties are being faced by assesses and CAs in uploading the Income Tax returns.
Thathai gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured his full cooperation in seeking extension from Central Board of Direct Taxes, New Delhi. Later on, the above requests were submitted to Thathai in the form of a memorandum.
The delegation also met Commissioner of Commercial Taxes, Kifayat Hussain Rizvi and appraised him about the difficulties faced by Chartered Accountants and handed over a memorandum to him.
CA Vikram Garg, vice chairman, CA Anil Sharma, secretary, CA Shalay Razdan, treasurer and CA Sandeep Pachnanda, executive member, were also part of the delegation.
