JAMMU, Jan 14: A book entitled as ‘Rural Transformation through Agricultural Innovations’ of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J), was released during the foundation day of ICAR-ATARI, Ludhiana, Zone-1 held at ICAR-ATARI, Ludhiana campus, Punjab.
Prof Nazir Ahmed Ganai, Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-K was the chief guest while the former Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-J, Prof P K Sharma and Director, ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana, Dr Nachiket Kotwaliwale were the special guests during the event.
The event was enthuasistically attended by the agricultural scientists from the states/UTs of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand.
Overview of the event was presented by the Director, ICAR-ATARI (Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute), Ludhiana, Dr Parvender Sheoron.
During the event, two Innovative Women Entrepreneurs of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Reasi, Anita Kumari, resident of Bhaga village and Anita Devi resident of Gunn village of Reasi were bestowed upon with the ‘Innovative Women Entrepreneur Awards’ for their outstanding contribution and exceptional commitments to demonstrate successful advancement of innovative entrepreneurial skills to their fellow farmers.
The award was presented by the chief guest, Prof Nazir Ahmed Ganai, during the event. It is worthwhile to mention here that Anita Kumari and Anita Devi are inspiring the other rural women of the area for their efforts on value addition in agricultural/horticultural crops.
According to Dr Banarsi Lal, Chief Scientist & Head of KVK Reasi, KVK is stressing on the value addition in agriculture/horticulture among the SHGs with the co-ordination of JKRLM so as to increase the income of the rural women of hilly areas.
