JAMMU, Sept 1: International Centre for Cross Cultural Research and Human Resource Management (ICccR & HRM), University of Jammu,  today organised an interactive lecture on ‘Management made easy- Learning from experiences in Army’ for the students of MBA (International Business) Programme.
The resource person for the session was Brigadier Rajan Jamwal,  accompanied by Brigadier Sanjay Kadian.
Brigadier Rajan Jamwal, during his interaction with the students, presented a realistic picture of the functioning of organizations wherein the lessons learnt in Army may be directly implied. While citing examples from various epics and corporate case studies, he brought to focus few of those management principles and strategies that organizations must incorporate in order to outshine amongst others.
Linking the functioning of Army to corporate businesses, Brig  Rajan Jamwal reflected that development of suitable work cultures, ethos, appropriate training and development programmes, time and talent management, clarity of objectives and vision, defining rules of engagement as well as creating suitable back up and contingency plans, all find their applicability in businesses. He talked about how these doctrines of Army, as an organization, are preferred by business houses and many organizations are adapting to the Army model for paving their own way to success.
Laying immense emphasis upon self-improvement, Brigadier Rajan Jamwal, insisted the students to identify their core competencies and then strategise their activities to suit their competencies. He l also encouraged the students to start inculcating leadership skills, excel at ethics and commitment, inspire, invigorate and counsel others, decode situations and circumstances, explore risks and improvise upon their weaknesses. Throwing light upon the organisational setups, Brig. Jamwal, highlighted the relevance of team work wherein all individuals seek to harness the key potentialities of others and use them for the benefit of the organisation. Women empowerment was another domain which Brig. Jamwal deliberated upon.
