ICCR creating database of Jammu artists, scholars

JAMMU, Apr 4: Indian Council for Cultural Relations is going to create a database of all the artists, writers, poets, scholars and performers of Jammu region.
Giving details, the Regional Director of ICCR Jammu, Balwant Thakur, informed here in a press briefing at ICCR Jammu headquarters that through this major initiative the information regarding our artists, writers, poets, scholars and performers will now be available globally and thus they will not only be recognized world over but public will also have the facility to know the who is who of the entire intellectual fraternity of this region.
“Unfortunately we hardly have any data about artists, writers, poets, scholars and performers available anywhere with any institution and this document being created through ICCR will go a long way in reaching out to a larger network of this fraternity of the region,” he said.
On the occasion, Balwant Thakur made an appeal to all the artists, writers, poets, scholars and performers of Jammu region to send their latest bio-datas to Indian Council for Cultural Relations, 46 Garden Avenue, Near Circuit House, Talab Tillo, Jammu or mail at iccrjammu@gmail.com along-with their latest coloured photographs. After having received the information, ICCR Jammu will catalogue and categorize them in accordance to their field of activity. In case of folk performers, provisions will also be kept in place to reach-out to them and be insured of their inclusion in this important data base.  In deserving cases, efforts will also be made to provide them the forms of empanelment with ICCR. ICCR Jammu will also seek help of Jammu Doordarshan, Radio Kashmir, Jammu and J&K Cultural Academy in the collection of information and required data and after having compiled, this data will be shared with all the concerned organizations and departments.
ICCR Jammu is also in the process of creating an e-invite network through which all the interested will now be getting invitations of all ICCR programmes through e-mails. For this the ICCR officials will visit majority of the public and private institutions to collect contact details of the individuals interested in watching ICCR programmes and activities.
