ICCR introduces its six international journals in Jammu

JAMMU, Dec 12: ICCR Jammu introduced six quarterly magazines in five international languages on Indian culture in Jammu.
These journals include ‘Papeles de la India’ (Spanish), ‘Rencontre avec L’ Inde’ (French) ‘Thaqafat-ul-Hind’ (Arabic) ‘Indian Horizons’ and ‘Africa Quarterly’ (both in English), and’ Gagananchal’ (Hindi).
These publications were displayed before the media by the Regional Director of ICCR Jammu Balwant Thakur in a press briefing at ICCR Campus, Jammu, here today.
The idea behind disseminating this information is to make public aware of the programmes and initiatives of ICCR so that interested scholars may take benefit of the same, Balwant Thakur said.
In addition, he added, the ICCR has published books on a wide range of subjects, ranging from the arts to philosophy, diplomacy, language and literature. Works of eminent Indian men of letters, statesmen and philosophers like Mahatma Gandhi, Maulana Azad, Nehru and Tagore, among others, hold pride of place in ICCR’s Publication Programme, he further said.
The publication programme is focused particularly on books relating to Indian culture, Philosophy and Mythology, music, dance, theatre and includes translations of Sanskrit classics in a number of languages including French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian and English.
The Regional Director ICCR Jammu further informed that to facilitate the scholars, the efforts are being made to make all publications of ICCR available in Jammu campus of ICCR for which a proposal is already under consideration at the Delhi headquarters.
