JAMMU, May 25: Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Regional office Jammu, today celebrated its 3rd foundation day here at Police auditorium with big fun-fare.
A unique show “Dance Diversity of Jammu and Kashmir”, conceptualized, designed and directed by Balwant Thakur, was presented on the occasion. The show aimed at glorifying the regional diversity and the cultural co-existence of the people of J&K, was supported by J&K Police.
Air Commodore, PE Patenge, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station, Jammu was the special guest on the occasion.
Earlier welcoming the gathering, Balwant Thakur, Regional Director of ICCR Jammu gave a detailed account about the two eventful years of ICCR in Jammu.
A film featuring the introduction of ICCR by Dr Karan Singh was also screened on the occasion. In the last two years, ICCR organized 37 major cultural events which included three International presentations.
In the mesmerizing event ‘Dance Diversity of J&K’, the artists kept the audience spellbound through their electrifying performance. For the audience it was a rare opportunity to witness the diverse rhythmic expressions featuring Dogri, Kashmiri, Gojri, Pahari and Ladkahi dances.
The artists who featured in the programme included Gurmeet Kour, Suhasini Antaal, Ruqaya Khatoon Qazi, Surya Salathia, Shafiqua Ahad, Ananya Singh Rana, Mrinalini Anand, Taniya Dogra, Sarika Sharma, Rupali Gupta, Preeti Manhas, Sarabjeet Kour, Shaina Sharma, Reetika Raina, Shiveta Raina, Namrata Chib, Deepak Kumar, John, Rahul Manhas, Neetan Kumar, Anil Sharma and Ashwani Kumar.
The show was choreographed by Rakesh Kumar Kona and was ably conducted by Aarushi Thakur.
