ICCR organises ‘Dogri Sangeet, Nritya’

JAMMU, Mar 29: Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Union Ministry of External Affairs, Regional Office J&K here today organised a colourful programme with local flavour of Dogri Sangeet and Nritya performed by different local artists under ‘Horizon Series’.
The event began with lighting of ceremonial lamp by Rajesh Kumar, Regional Director ICCR and chief guest Sham Lal Sharma, former Minister along with other dignitaries.
After this the artists and chief guest were felicitated with bouquet by the Regional Director ICCR Jammu.
Welcome address was delivered by Rajesh Kumar, Regional Director, ICCR and Regional Passport Officer Jammu who said that ICCR, a cultural wing of MEA mainly aims to enhance India’s soft diplomatic power worldwide and boosts India’s skills of cultural diplomacy as well as brings the whole nation closer through cultural and educational initiatives/exchanges. Today’s performance started with local singers Nirbhay Singh, Sapna, Udhay Singh and Sunny and they sung some famous Dogri songs.
After this, Dogri dance was performed by a group of local artists Harshita, Tanya, Manashvi, Khushi and Kavita.
The programme was coordinated by Reena Salathia, Cultural Officer, ICCR RO Jammu.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks by the Regional Director, ICCR, RO Jammu.
