ICCR organizes ‘Vision for Jammu Theatre’

JAMMU, Mar 19: Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) organized first ever Theatre Forum in the State, titled ‘Vision for Jammu Theatre’, here today at KL Sehgal Hall.
This first ever intellectual exercise aimed at introspecting the theatre scene of Jammu received an overwhelming response of the young enthusiasts of theatre who described this meet as an eye opener for many, which not only broadened their vision but also an opportune moment to find clarities about the theatre work being practiced in the city of temples.
At the very outset, the Regional Director of ICCR J&K, Balwant Thakur, to open the brainstorming exercise dwelt in detail about the objectives of this first-ever Theatre Forum organized by ICCR in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. Speaking further he said that since 8th Theatre Olympics are being held in Jammu in which world theatre personalities will showcase their best of the works and it becomes the larger responsibility of the organizations like ICCR to provide a platform for the local theatre fraternity to initiate dialogue to discuss local as well as global theatre scene and enlighten themselves.
Vikram Sharma, a playwright, director and actor moderated the Theatre Forum. He desired all to demonstrate maturity and work unitedly for a common cause of Jammu Theatre.
Young theatre director Abhishek Bharti who is also a Yuva Bismillah Khan Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee for direction in theatre spoke at length about his vision for Jammu theatre.
Another young active theatre director Ravinder Sharma went further in the discussion and desired that all should work for each other and seek best from other’s expertise and strengths.
