JAMMU, Jan 30: Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs today presented a thrilling programme ‘Celebrating India’s Republic through diverse cultural expressions’ here at the Auditorium of Government College for Women, Parade.
Sarita Chauhan, Commissioner/Secretary, Higher Education Department, was the chief guest on the occasion whereas Roma Wani, Secretary General, Indian Red Cross Society, was the guest of honour.
Innovatively choreographed programme featuring diverse dance traditions of the State was a befitting celebration of India’s republic. The programme started with a mix number of three varied dance shades of Dogri which culminated into a wonderful Jagarna performance which was exclusively performed by women folk.
This mind-blowing performance was followed by Gojri dance, which was an interesting musical narrative of a Gujjar lady who was teased by a wild fly. The programme also featured a Kashmiri dance ‘Rouf’, which is performed in the accompaniment of pleasant pathetic songs sung by the group of women.
This amazing bouquet of rarest dance traditions beautifully unfolded the mesmerizing artistic traditions of this part of the world. Each dance presentation despite being different from the other in rhythm and pace was highly artistically blended with each other so as to present their harmony co-relation.
Starting with vibrant Dogri Dances, the programme took along the audiences to a most rejoicing journey of the State of J&K, unfolding spectacular dance traditions of Kashmiri, Gojari, Pahari and Ladakhi cultures.
The programme culminated through the presentation of a mega performance ‘Unity in diversity of J&K’, exclusively designed and composed to portray the harmony and the cultural co-existence of the people of J&K.
