ICCR showcases ‘Dogri Sangeet’ under Kala Vishwa

JAMMU, Mar 31: Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Union Ministry of External Affairs, Regional Office J&K here today hosted a mega concert ‘Dogri Sangeet’ by Nirbhay Singh & Group under ‘Kala Vishwa’ at K.L Sehgal Hall.
The event began with the lighting of ceremonial lamp by N.K Shil, Regional Director, ICCR and Regional Passport Officer, Jammu and other guests.
After this, the artists were felicitated with presentation of bouquet by Regional Director, ICCR Jammu.
In welcome address, N.K Shil informed that ICCR mainly intends to enhance India’s soft diplomatic power worldwide and boost India’s skills of cultural diplomacy as well as to bring the entire nation together through cultural and educational exchanges.
“At the same time, ICCR makes efforts to promote local art and culture and budding artists in the field of art, music, dance and drama by giving them opportunity to showcase their talents,” Shil maintained adding that today’s performance started with Dogri songs ‘Taare Tuda Paiyan’ followed by ‘Mere Hikduye Gadbad Ooyi Balo’ and ‘Chatney Timru Di’ by Nirbhay Singh, Udhayveer Singh and Sapna Gupta which enthralled everyone with their powerful medley of singing.
Those who accompanied the team included Chandan (Keyboard), Rahul (Pad) and Rajiv (Dholak). Another striking feature of the programme was the versatile anchoring done by presenter Yogesh Sharma.
The programme ended with vote of thanks by Reena Salathia, Cultural Officer, ICCR, RO Jammu.
