JAMMU, Jan 31: The Administrative Council which met under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor, GC Murmu has accorded sanction to the payment of salary to the ICDS staff for which funds could not be provided by the Government of India (GoI), Ministry of Women and Child Development, due to revision in scope, structuring and funding pattern of the scheme.
Under the ICDS umbrella scheme, the salary of the entire project staff was paid by the Government of India, Ministry of Women & Child Development out of funds released under Centrally Sponsored Scheme on a 90:10 basis. However, the Government of India revised the scope, structure and cost sharing ratio of the scheme, as per the revised scheme, out of 2688 posts, 1053 posts were discontinued for which salary budget was to be provided by the UT.
The decision of the Administrative Council to shift the budgeting salary provision to the Capex Budget will provide relief to engagees under the ICDS scheme.
