Srinagar, Aug 27: JKICDS Supervisors today held a protest against authorities of the Social Welfare Department for not releasing their salaries lying pending for the last nearly 5 months.
They said that more than 1500 ICDS Supervisors did not get their hard-earned salary even on the auspicious festival of Eid this year.
Under the banner of the JKICDS Supervisors Union supported by JKECC and JKSEWWA, the protestors demanded a one-time solution to the routine delay by delinking salary budget head from 2235(CSS) to 2236(SS) as has been adopted for SSA teachers in the Education Department.
The protesting Supervisors rued official callousness in resolving the long pending demand.
“Anyone who wants to purchase a kidney can contact supervisors because most of the supervisors have already sold their jewelry,” one of the protesting supervisors said.
Abida War, JKICDS Supervisors UT President, and Chairperson JKSEWWA said that the administration has a bias against ICDS Supervisors as 99% of employees are females who are suffering for decades either in the matter of salary or promotions.
“I lost my husband due to COVID last year and then had to take loans for getting my daughters married; now I am left with nothing to pay those loans off,” another supervisor said.
JKICDSSU President Abida War appealed to the higher-ups to look into the matter and sought immediate intervention from the LG Manoj Sinha and the Chief Secretary so that their issues are resolved once and for all.
