ICDS Supervisors without salary for 20 months

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, May 12: Over 50 Supervisors of the ICDS wing of the J&K Social Welfare Department in Jammu province are without salary for the last about 20 months.
These helpless Anganwadi Workers, who were promoted by the department in August 2018 as Supervisors, were never given the enhanced salary as Supervisors by the Mission Directorate, ICDS despite the fact that their counterparts in Kashmir province promoted during the same month, were provided the pay grade of Supervisor from the very next month.
The aggrieved SWD employees, who approached Excelsior Office today also forwarded the copy mailed to the Principal Secretary, Social Welfare Department regarding their plight. These employees who preferred not to be quoted, revealed that they are performing all the duties assigned to them for creating awareness on Corona virus, health audit/surveys and other allied duties but they have been deprived of their hard earned money. Not even a single penny has been paid to them by the Government despite regular work being performed by them.
They further revealed that they requested Mission Director, several times, wrote to the Administrative Secretary twice and even met the Advisor, Farooq Khan during ending January this year but they all only gave false assurances and nothing on the ground was visible till today. They revealed that many of them are facing starvation while those sitting at the top in the Department are least bothered about their plight. They termed this act as great injustice against the employees of Jammu province. The hapless women employees have sought “urgent intervention” of Lt Governor, G C Murmu and Chief Secretary into the matter.
